History of the Manor

This impressive building served as a meeting and entertainment place for the nobility. After a fire, it was rebuilt by the City Council in 1481. Later it served as a place for court hearings, and from 1742 it functioned as a grain exchange, playing an important role in trade. World War II caused great destruction. The manor was rebuilt and currently serves as the History Museum of the City of Gdańsk, retaining its historical importance for the local community and tourists. The name of the Manor itself comes from King Arthur.

The Great Hall of the Artus Court

In this main room with an impressive area of 400 square meters, there is a characteristic palm-star vault supported by four granite pillars. The central element of this space is the Great Furnace, built between 1545 and 1546, which is considered probably the largest furnace in Europe. Its impressive height, exceeding 10 meters, caused it to be called the "King of Stoves".

Gdańsk hall of the Artus Court

In the Gdańsk Hall you can see a collection of Gdańsk furniture that represents the unique style and craftsmanship associated with this region. These richly decorated and precisely crafted pieces of furniture are a valuable element of Gdańsk's cultural heritage, showcasing its artistic achievements. Here you will find models of ships - 11 historical replicas of ships related to the history of the port and shipping. Moreover, in this room you can admire the oldest paneling in Gdańsk, which adds a unique character to this place.
